Developed within the OQOMETHI project with support from FRANCE2030 and ADEME, the instrument was successfully tested during field operations in Venice (7–9 October 2025) under the PHY2FLEX project.
Each measurement sequence alternates between sky, sea, and irradiance acquisitions, interleaved with dark-current measurements for calibration.
Typical observation geometries follow standard Above-Water Radiometry (AWR) protocols:

0° — upward (downwelling irradiance)

30–50° — sky above the horizon (40° default)

130–150° — sea surface below the horizon (140° default)
These angles minimize sun-glint and ensure reproducible optical geometry. Although the viewing angles may be selected flexibly within these recommended ranges, their controlled choice is essential for maintaining consistent measurement geometry and enabling accurate BRDF-related corrections. The integration time is automatically optimized to keep the detector within its ideal dynamic range and prevent saturation.
