The mFL.12 is currently at Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 7–8.

Successfully tested in Venice during the ESA PHY2FLEX campaign (7–9 October 2025), confirming its performance and robustness under marine conditions.
The mFL.12 is a miniature active optical sensor for in-situ laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) measurements in aquatic environments. Designed for integration on USVs and AUVs and operable to 600 m depth, it offers high sensitivity, low power consumption, and built-in connectivity for long-term autonomous water-quality monitoring.
Its hyperspectral LiDAR architecture enables measurements both below the surface and through surface films, allowing direct detection of oil slicks and subsurface emulsions — capabilities not achievable with traditional remote sensing.
Compact and energy-efficient, the mFL.12 can operate on fixed platforms or small mobile systems such as USVs, AUVs, and drones, extending fluorescence monitoring into environments previously inaccessible to conventional instruments.
