Lake Issyk-Kul, Kyrgyzstanry

This is a fairly large lake of 200 x 60 km with a maximum depth of 686 m and a low salinity of 5.9‰. The water in the central part of the lake belongs to Case I waters. However, the runoff of mountain rivers and erosion of the banks noticeably increase the concentration of impurities in the coastal zone. The lake does not freeze even at low temperatures. For this reason and due to the large number of sunny days, it is a convenient object for satellite monitoring.
